A Little Real Hip Hop Mix Wit Some Funny
Tight Pants Are For Girls
Letter To Gary Coleman
Also A Xmas inspired Music Video
My president is Black
My Maybach too
And I’ll be goddamned if my diamonds ain’t blue
My moneys dark green
And my Porsche is light grey
And I’m headed for DC, anybody feel me?
(First of all this hook is kind of weak. This is supposed to be the biggest song for the year for Mr. Obama and Jay says this meaningless babble… also when does grey rhyme with me (may))
My president is Black, in fact he’s half white
So even in a racist mind, he’s half right
If you’ve got a racist mind, you be aiight
My president is Black, but his house is all white
(Let’s be real here, if anyone else said this, we would brush it off as whack, but like his little brother the big brother can do anything he pleases sometimes without getting called on it)
Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk
Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run
Barack Obama ran so all our children could fly
So I’m a spread my wings, you could meet me in the sky
(I was at the Philadeplhia Obama ralley when he said this line (minus the spread my wings part) but it is to my understanding that he jacked this quote form someone else… who doesn’t rap)
Already got my own clothes, already got my own shoes
I was hot before Barack, imagine what I’m gon’ do
Hello Miss America, hey pretty lady
Red white and blue flag, wave for me baby
(Ok, I admit the first 2 bars were kind of hot, but the last 2, it seems like he just wanted this to get some club respect)
Never thought I’d say this shit, baby I’m good
You can keep your puss, I don’t want no more bush
No more war, no more Iraq
No more white lies, my president is Black
(Finishes strong, I have nothing else more to say about these 4)
This goes to show that unconscious rappers can not make conscious or meaningful rap songs in the climate of today. But what else this shows is that people, listeners, fans; will accept any half thought out verse from their favorite, perhaps everyone favorite MC. Come on people if we don’t call Jay on this BS then imagine what Blueprint 3 will consist of? And don’t blame him went he drops another Kingdom Come only blame yourselves because you all let him get away with it this time. It is human nature to give the bare minimum when you know people will accept it with open arms.
XXL had good blogs today, where they addressed Lyricism in rap and even someone else breakdown of this exact same verse (thanks for the inspiration).
I wish someone with a mind and still has unconditional love for this thing once known as Hip Hop. I am now dreaming of the day Lupe, 3000, Common or even Em jump on something similar (although Common’s Changes does shine some light on it, although made before the election). But hey I can’t blame Jay entirely, he is on a Jeezy song and the average Jeezy fanboy doesn’t know desert from desert (think about it, there called heteronyms). Jay may have needed to dumb himself down but that still doesn’t take away from the fact he needs to redeem himself.
PS. Call me whatever but O’reilly makes some points in his video address of the song

Check out some of his work
